Autonomous IoT Innovation for Sustainable Traceability and Smart Labelling

Linxens, a global leader in component-based solutions for authentication and traceability, and Dracula Technologies, a pioneer in ambient light energy harvesting, have announced a strategic collaboration to co-develop a new generation of battery-free smart labels for connected IoT applications. This partnership paves the way for more sustainable and autonomous solutions in the fields of traceability, logistics, and smart packaging.

At the heart of the collaboration is Dracula Technologies’ groundbreaking LAYER® technology—an organic photovoltaic (OPV) innovation capable of harvesting energy from low or intermittent indoor light. This energy-harvesting capability will be integrated into Linxens’ intelligent labelling and RFID solutions, enabling the creation of fully battery-free, reusable, and energy-autonomous smart labels.

Linxens contributes decades of expertise in the industrial design and large-scale production of flexible electronic components and RFID inlays, essential for connectivity in smart tags and labels. By combining their strengths, the two companies aim to eliminate one of the most pressing challenges in connected labeling: reliance on batteries, which limits product lifespan and increases environmental impact.
