The E-zeroBatteryZone® is an advanced sensor system designed to operate autonomously by harvesting energy from ambient light. Powered by Ambient Light

The E-zeroBatteryZone® leverages Organic Photovoltaic (OPV) technology to eliminate the need for traditional batteries. The sensor node harvests energy from ambient light through organic photovoltaic modules. Even in low-light conditions, LAYER® ensures the conversion of light into energy, providing continuous autonomy without requiring battery replacements. This results in reduced maintenance and operational costs.

Low-Power Communication

The sensor system uses a low-power communication protocol via the NeoMesh network, developed by NeoCortec. This network is optimized for data transmission efficiency while minimizing energy consumption, enabling the system to operate for extended periods without additional power requirements. The protocol ensures reliable data transfer between the sensors and a central gateway, which relays the information to the cloud.

Energy Storage with Supercapacitors

The S-Power 2S supercapacitor from Ligna Energy is used for energy storage. The supercapacitor stores energy harvested by the OPV modules, ensuring a continuous power supply to the sensor node, even during periods of low light. This storage system is designed for high durability and long life, further reducing the need for maintenance.

Scalable and Efficient for IoT Deployments

Developed in collaboration with Endrich GroupNeoCortec, and Ligna Energy, the E-zeroBatteryZone® is optimized for large-scale IoT sensor deployments in connected environments. The system’s ability to function without the need for batteries and its integration of energy-efficient communication protocols make it an ideal solution for wide-area sensor networks.
