Paragon ID and Dracula Technologies have announced plans to accelerate the industrial rollout of XgenTag-L, a light-powered Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) smart tag.
These tags have been designed to operate without batteries, and the move follows successful pilot programmes. The decision is backed by a multi-year agreement involving the supply of several hundred thousand LAYER organic photovoltaic (OPV) modules annually.
The collaboration aims to scale sustainable Internet of Things (IoT) solutions that reduce environmental impact by eliminating batteries, cutting CO₂ emissions, and avoiding the use of critical raw materials. The technology is expected to support high-volume applications in logistics, transport, aviation, healthcare, and retail, while lowering production costs and enabling more granular supply chain traceability.
