A multi-year order supports the scale-up of battery-free Bluetooth tracking tags.
Paragon ID and Dracula Technologies have strengthened their partnership to scale production of XgenTag-L, a battery-free Bluetooth Low Energy smart tag powered by ambient light.
The collaboration includes a multi-year product order representing several hundred thousand LAYER organic photovoltaic modules per year. The tags harvest energy from ambient light to power BLE chips, enabling transmission intervals of one second in bright conditions without batteries or maintenance infrastructure.
‘The success of XgenTag-L demonstrates that sustainable IoT is not a future vision, it’s happening now and delivering value,’ commented Eric Cariou, vice president of new product development at Paragon ID. ‘By strengthening our collaboration with Dracula Technologies, we’re making this breakthrough technology accessible at global scale across logistics, transport, aviation, healthcare and retail.’
